On January 12, the Ministerial Joint Meeting on National Intellectual Property Strategy organized the first liaison officer meeting in Beijing. Related staff from the General Office of the State Council and liaison officers from 28 member units of the ministerial IPR attended the meeting. The participants summed up the implementation of the Outline of National Intellectual Property Strategy in 2008 and discussed the draft work plan in 2009.
SIPO Deputy Commissioner Zhang Qin said that in current difficult times caused by financial crisis, pressure on IPR is mounting along with trade protectionism. At the same time, the crisis may also bring opportunities for companies to acquire IPRs at lower cost, for which this Ministerial Meeting might be helpful.
Participants commented on the work plan for 2009, which focus on nine categories of 200 specific measures.
