Steel Skeleton of Shanghai Expo's Theme Pavilion Complete

The steel skeleton of the Theme Pavilion for World Expo 2010 has been completed.  The designed-in-China exhibition hall boasts a number of self-reliant IPRs, showcasing China's world-class skills in design and construction of large exhibition structures. 

Many innovations are employed in civil engineering, for example the oversized excavation bit without supporting pillars, robot used to install of steel skeleton and use of grade separation construction scheme.  The Theme Pavilion will cover 11.5 acres above ground and 129,000 square-meter in total space.  The construction of the pavilion began on November 10 last year and is to be completed on September 30, 2009.  With completion of pile foundation, underground structure and steel skeleton, construction is advancing to installation of equipments and curtain wall.
