According to the statistics released by Supreme People's Court recently, a total of 71 intermediate courts are appointed to be able to try IP cases, including the two appointed this year.
The statistics show that the numbers of intermediate courts that are authorized to try cases of new plant variety and layout of integrated circuit hit 38 and 43 respectively. A total of 61 grassroots courts can try part of IP cases after approval, including the 21 appointed this year.
In addition, the court setups nationwide continue to explore reforms to IP case trial system and working system to optimize resource allocation. Preliminary statistics show that up to date, a total of nine intermediate courts and 14 grassroots courts have launched the pilot project of one tribunal trying all types of IP cases.
