Chen-Chiang Meeting to Discuss Issues Like IPR Protection in the Next Round of Talks

(Xinhua News Agency) On the morning of November 4, Chen Yunlin, President of the Chinese mainland's Association of Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) holds talks with Chiang Pin-kung, Chairman of Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) in Taipei. On the basis of achieving important consensus in many areas, they agree to resolve problems such as IPR protection across Taiwan Straits in the next round of talks.

The two sides also exchange views on the plans of consultation topics for the next year and information exchanges of the affairs related to Chen-Chiang Meeting. They preliminarily agree to talk about issues such as financial cooperation, jointly cracking down on criminals, labor cooperation in fishery industry, mutual investment and signing investment protection agreements, cooperation in animal and plant inspection and quarantine, industrial cooperation, IPR protection and resident correspondents. They also discuss on the arrangement of constructing cross-straits economic cooperation system in proper ways.

The two sides achieve an important consensus on sea transportation, air transportation, post and food security. Mr. Chen points out that resolving the above-mentioned four problems realizes the goal of direct transportation and direct postal communication, for which compatriots across Taiwan Straits has yearned for 30 years, paving a convenient way for personnel exchanges and economic cooperation, enhancing the benefits for people across the straits and pushing forward the cross-straits relations to a new stage.
