According to Xinhua News Agency, the 11th Asia-Europe Forum on Industry and Commerce is recently held in Beijing. Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping attends the opening ceremony and delivers a keynote speech. He points out that efforts should be made to bring the roles of the platforms of Asia-Europe Forum on Industry and Commerce and Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) SMEs Ministerial Meeting into full play to jointly promote cooperation in IP sector and create a sound environment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) development in Asia and Europe.

Mr. Xi notes that SMEs are the active forces of economic development in various countries in Asia and Europe. Chinese side supports various countries to actively implement the Beijing Declaration on Strengthening Cooperation Among ASEM Members on SMEs, bring the roles of the platforms of Asia-Europe Forum on Industry and Commerce and ASEM SMEs Ministerial Meeting into full play, strengthen partnership of the governments and industry and commerce circles, jointly promote cooperation in various fields, especially in service industry, technology transfer, IP and corporate social responsibility, creating a sound environment for SMEs development in Asia and Europe.

Xi stresses that China would like to make joint efforts with various ASEM member states in areas of dialogue and coordination of energy policies, energy exploration and utilization and research, development and transfer of energy technologies under ASEM framework to stabilize the international energy market; China hopes various member countries could join hands to strengthen policy coordination, experience exchanges and technological cooperation in environmental protection area to protect our earth garden on which we rely for existence.

Mr. Xi says that after China adopts the policy of reform and opening up to the outside world 30 years ago, Chinese Government persistently attaches great importance to and actively supports the development of industrial and commercial enterprises under the guideline of “going all out to let the vitalities of all the labor, intelligence, technology, management and capital mushroom and let the sources of social wealth fully emerge,” enabling state-owned industrial and commercial enterprises to further develop and expand, and a large number of private enterprises to grow rapidly. He hopes the forum could provide a useful platform for participating enterprises in Asia and Europe to establish network connection and seek cooperation opportunities. He hopes the personnel from industry and commerce circles in various ASEM members could constantly expand their common ground and strengthen cooperation to make greater contribution to stabilize and develop the global economy.

Mr. Xi also makes an important exposition on topics such as financial security and trade and investment facilitation in his keynote speech.
