Big dollar contracts involving patented technologies surged in Beijing from January to September 2008, according to the Beijing Technology Market Regulatory Office on October 20.  The 501 deals closed hauled in more than 4.9 billion yuan, nearly quadrupling over the same period last year. 

The specific numbers for January- September 2008 are: 501 deals closed, up 3.39%; 4.9 billion yuan in turnover, up 3.92 times and representing 6.33% of all types of technology contracts.  Breakdowns in types of patents are: 192 inventions, 1.36 billion yuan in turnover, 27.51% of all patented technology contracts; 305 utility models, 3.562 billion yuan, 72.06%; 4 designs, 21 million yuan, 0.42%.
