On September 19, the fifth China International Patent and Brand Expo (CIPBE) and the first China Shunde International Industrial Design Expo (SIIDE) opens at Shunde Exhibition Center. SIPO Deputy Commissioner Zhang Qin and Guangdong Deputy Governor Song Hai participate in the opening ceremony.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Mr. Zhang points out that implementing the national IP strategy is the necessary requirement for Chinese enterprises to improve their competitiveness and increase the national core competitiveness. As the main body of innovation, enterprises urgently need to realize industrial upgrades through exploiting the potentials of their patented technologies and the value of their brands; regions featuring export-oriented processing and manufacturing also urgently need to adjust their economic structure through implementing and industrializing their patents, and fostering the influences and penetrating forces of their renowned brands. Only through comprehensively pushing forward IP-related works and effectively lifting the level of IPR creation, utilization, protection and administration can Chinese enterprises firmly have the initiative in production and operation, maintain China’s economic security and create a stable social environment for better and faster sustainable economic development.
Mr. Zhang notes that CIPBE is one of the most influential exhibitions in China’s IP sector with the highest level and the largest scale. The annual Patent Expo has become a sound platform for hi-tech enterprises, hi-tech industrial parks, people involved in technology development and scientific and technological institutes to launch exchanges and cooperation, playing an increasingly important roles in promoting the development of China’s hi-tech industry.
The two-day expo is sponsored by SIPO and Guangdong Provincial People’s Government and is jointly held by China Patent Information Center, China Intellectual Property News and Shunde District People’s Government of Shunde, with a theme of “Innovation, Originality and Creation.”
Integrating the CIPBE with SIIDE is a great characteristic and innovation of the expo this year. Having attracted more than 500 enterprises at home and abroad, the expo covers a total area of over 20,000 square meters, equivalent to nearly 1,000 standard stalls. It is the first time for the 10-year old CIPBE to be held in South China and in Shunde, which can gather a large amount of famous enterprises and brands, domestic and international patented technologies and innovation achievements, setting a new record high in terms of both visual attraction and effectiveness. Simultaneously held, the first SIIDE is the largest industrial design exhibition in China with the most complete categories. Combining the advantages of the national brand exhibitions, Shunde and the Pearl River Delta resources, the event will exert profound influence to the economic and industrial development of Guangdong (especially the Pearl River Delta), and even that of the whole China.
Consisting of three theme exhibition halls of Hall 1 (Patent and Famous Brand Hall), Hall 2 (Industrial Design and Creativity Exhibition Hall) and Hall 3 (Hall for Experiencing New Sci-Tech and Cultural Life), the expo has attracted many famous enterprises such as Midea, Huawei, Hisense and Glanz and their latest patented technologies and brand products. Delegations from 16 provinces and municipalities nationwide also participate in the expo. Many scientific research institutes in Commonwealth of Independent States such as Ukraine and Belarus, and a large number of industrial design organizations in countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong also show up in the expo. Pooling the high-end intellectual resources at home and abroad such as the patents, famous brands and industrial designs and creativities, and combining the advantages of Guangdong Province and the Pearl River Delta in manufacturing industry, the fifth CIPBE will guide “made in Pearl River Delta”, “made in Guangdong” and even “made in China” to the direction of “creation” and “intellectually manufacturing”.
At the opening ceremony of the fifth CIPBE, SIPO Deputy Commissioner Zhang Qin awards a plaque of “National (Shunde) Base of Industrial Design and Creative Industry” to Su Weibo, Deputy Head of Shunde District People’s Government. The base is China’s first national level industrial design park honored as the national industrial design and creative industry base, as well as the second national level hi-tech base (park) of industrial design after Wuxi. Shunde has thus become the first pilot city of IP strategy of the national industrial design and creative industry enterprise cluster.
