Common Understanding Between China and Singapore: Fostering Enterprises and Brands with Independent IPRs

The 10th China-Singapore Steering Council Meeting of Suzhou Industrial Park is held in Tianjin on September 4. According to the meeting, which is co-chaired by Wang Qishan, Member of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier, and Wong Kan Seng, Singapore Deputy Prime Minister, the Park should accelerate its pace of independent innovation so as to foster more enterprises and brands with independent IPRs.

Both China and Singapore sides believe that Suzhou Industrial Park has become the crystallization of the wisdom of leaders of both countries as well as the important symbol of Sino-Singaporean friendly cooperation. The meeting reviews and summarizes the construction of the park in the past year and discusses issues such as the ideas and measures of the future development.

The meeting points out that the year 2009 marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Suzhou Industrial Park, and we should deeply implement the scientific outlook on development on the new starting point and make efforts to create new developing advantages for the park. First, measures should be taken to accelerate the transformation of the mode of economic development and energetically promote industrial upgrades; second, efforts should be made to boost independent innovation to foster more enterprises and brands with independent IPRs; third, the process of constructing a resource-saving and environment-friendly industrial park should be accelerated to energetically develop recycling economy and ecological industry; fourth, system and mechanism innovation should be accelerated to create the sound market environment, legal environment and service environment; fifth, the extension and depth of opening up should be further expanded to fully improve the level of the open economy; and sixth, efforts should be made to accelerate the construction of a harmonious society so as to safeguard and improve people's livelihood. The meeting requires both China and Singapore sides to continue to make joint efforts to promote the construction of Suzhou Industrial Park and increase the cooperation fruits.
