The Second Symposium for Heads of Intellectual Property Academies Concludes

Recently, the Second Symposium for Heads of IP Academies concludes in Beijing. SIPO Commissioner Tian Lipu attends the closing ceremony and delivers a speech.

Mr. Tian extends his congratulations to the success of the symposium on behalf of SIPO, fully recognizes the adoption of Beijing Action Plan and expresses his thanks to the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) constant help and support to China’s IP cause. He points out that this symposium is the second one after the First Symposium for Heads of IP Academies is held in Brazil. It further consolidates the exchange platform of the Global Network on IP Academies. Through effective and pragmatic exchanges and communications, we will establish a kind of connections among us, which will bring long-term benefits to us all.

Mr. Tian indicates that as one of the members of the secretariat of the Global Network on IP Academies, SIPO will make joint efforts with WIPO and other members of the Network to enhance mutual understandings among IP offices and training institutes of various countries and strengthen experience exchanges and information communications to jointly promote the sound development of the world IP training work.

During the two-day symposium, representatives from various countries discuss issues such as the growth and development of the global IP academies, cooperation, coordination and supports among IP academies, challenges facing IP academies and how to cope with them, IP education for different groups and planning tactics of training projects, centralizing on the Global Network on IP Academies. Through exchanges, representatives increase their mutual understandings, expand their way of thinking and put forward valuable suggestions on perfecting IP training systems in various countries.

A total of 29 heads of IP institutes from 17 countries, regions and international organizations such the WIPO, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Japan Patent Office and European Patent Office attend the symposium.
