Sino-Japanese Joint Statement Signed to Strengthen Mutual-Beneficial Cooperation in Intellectual Property and other fields

(Xinhua News Agency) Chinese President Hu Jintao and Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda signed the Sino-Japanese Joint Statement on All-Round Promotion of the Strategic and Mutually Beneficial Relations (hereafter referred to as the Joint Statement) on May 7 in Tokyo. According to the Joint Statement, China and Japan will strengthen their cooperation of mutual benefit in various areas such as IPR protection to enhance their common interests.

The Joint Statement clarifies that both sides agree that China and Japan, as two countries with important influences to the world economy, will make contribution to the sustainable growth of the world economy. Both sides decide to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, information and communication technology, finance, food and product safety, protection of IPR, business environment, farming, forestry, fishery, transportation, tourism, water resources, medical care and others sectors.

This is the fourth joint statement between China and Japan after the China-Japan Joint Statement issued in 1972.
