On the morning of April 17, a press conference on China’s IPR protection in 2007 is held in the Information Office of the State Council. SIPO Spokesman Yin Xintian briefs on the situation of China’s IPR protection in 2007, and answers questions from the press with Fan Hanyun, Deputy Director General of Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and Xu Chao,Deputy Director General of Copyright Department of the National Copyright Administration.
Mr. Yin points out that the work of formulating the National IP Strategy is basically finished in 2007. On April 9 this year, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao presides over an executive meeting of the State Council, which reviews and adopts in principle the National Strategic Program for Intellectual Property. The National IP Strategy enters the stage of implementation from the stage of formulation, indicating China’s IP work to be in an entirely new historical development phase.
Mr. Yin comprehensively introduces China’s achievements made in aspects like patent, trademark, copyright and IPR judicial protection. He notes that as a responsible developing country, China adopts an impregnable attitude and makes honest efforts in protecting IPR, and has made obviously fruitful achievements. China constantly optimizes its IP system and protects IPR in a pragmatic manner, aiming at stimulating the innovation spirits of the whole nation, absorbing and introducing international intellectual resources and accelerating China’s tempo of constructing an innovative country.
Responding to the question of Olympics-related IPR protection, Mr. Yin notes that China’s IPR protection during the Olympic Games will be comprehensive and Chinese Government has the determination, confidence and capacity to create a sound environment for IPR protection during the Olympic Games.
