The Quality Brands Protection Committee (QBPC) under the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (CAEFI), on March 28, unveiled its selection of Best Cases of IPR Protection for 2007-2008. Awards were dished out to the 21 responsible Chinese authorities including Nanjing Tobacco Monopoly Administrati on and Qingpu Branch under Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce.
The 12 winning cases span the full range of IPR enforcement. Among them, 7 cases, including a crackdown on underworld sales network of counterfeit tobaccos, are relating to criminal prosecution; 2 cases, including procurement and export of counterfeit auto parts by Hong Kong Baoao's Shanghai office, are relating to trademark infringement; 2 cases, including Ningbo Customs' seizure of outbound counterfeit Nike and Jordan sneakers by a Wenzhou company, are relating to border protection; In 1 case, GE sues a Xi'an company for trade secret misappropriation and copyright infringement.
