On January 15, 2008, the 1st National Working Conference on IP Online Adjudication Documentation was held by the Supreme People's Court in Suzhou. Representatives of 33 high courts, 24 intermediate or local courts of independent IP jurisdiction attended the conference.

Chaired by Mr. Jiang Zhipei, presiding judge of IP Court of the Supreme Court, the conference summarized the development of IP adjudication documentation work in the past two years, briefed information of IP online adjudication documentation and made arrangement about the documentation in the future.

Representatives from Beijing High Court and other three courts also introduced their experience.

In the years from 2002 to 2006, all local courts had accepted and concluded 54,321 and 52,437 IP cases of trial of first instance, 145.92 percent and 141.99 percent more than those from 1997 to 2001, with annual increase rates of 17.06 percent and 19.29 percent respectively, while IP cases of trial of second phrase accepted and concluded were 13,170 and 12,700 with annual increase rates of 8.92 percent and 9.55 percent respectively.

As the most straightforward, powerful and stable way of protection, IPR judicatory protection lies in the fundamental and dominated position in the IP innovation system, and also an important guarantee to implement the National IP Strategy.
