It is reported that 69 symbols of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games have been filed with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) while 7 special images including the official mascots of Fuwa have been registered. The trademark applications of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games emblem, mascots, etc. are now in the examination process for approval.
These 69 filed Olympic symbols are said to include: Olympic images, such as the Olympic Symbol of five interlaced rings, the Beijing Olympic Games emblem; Olympic linguistic symbols, such as Olympic quotations, the Beijing Olympic Games slogan; Olympic proper name symbols, such as the name of the 29th Olympic Games. In addition, some new Olympic pictograms are seeking to be filed with the SAIC.
The 7 registered special symbols are: the mascots of "Fuwa", "Friendlies", the spelling of "FUWA", the Beijing Olympic Cultural Festival Symbol, the Environmental Symbol of Beijing Olympics, the Volunteers Symbol of Beijing Olympics, and the emblem of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. Meanwhile, the Official Mascot of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, the torch symbols are in the process of registration.
