Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) recently deliberated and approved eight Special Regulations for World Expo Shanghai during its 141st general assembly. The content of the Special regulations involves IP protection, exhibitors' commercial activities and public services, and has critical significance for the preparation of the World Expo Shanghai and the participation of countries and international organizations.
Based on the Registration Report and the General Regulations, the Special Regulations for Expo Shanghai are legal documents that further regulate the rights and duties of the organizer and exhibitors. The eight Special Regulations approved in BIE assembly demonstrated once again the commitment Chinese government made in the Registration Report of World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
Chinese delegation stated the progress of preparations for World Expo 2010 Shanghai at the assembly. According to them, preparations for World Expo Shanghai have entered the critical stage of overall implementation since the beginning of 2007. Major tasks for the next step include carry the theme through, complete the designs of China Hall and Theme Hall, enhance promotion, fully launch domestic exhibitor recruitment activities, and improve legal protection, etc. Chinese government will specify and carry out each task as planned.
Up till today, the international exhibitor recruitment of World Expo Shanghai has made good achievement, with 151 countries and international organizations confirmed their participation. Domestic recruitment will start soon – meetings will be hosted this year to mobilize provinces, cities and enterprises to participate as exhibitors. In addition, Chinese government will make great effort in drawing up regulations about organizing the expo, so as to protect interests of exhibitors.
