Farmers may Use IPRs as the Subscribed Capital for Joining the Cooperative

Beginning from July 1, 2007, 20 Laws and Regulations and Rules will become effective as of July 1, 2007, of which, 8 are at the country-level and 12 are at the local-level.  One of the Regulations is entitled the "Regulations for the Registration and Management of the Farmers' Specialized Cooperative", in which, the mode of subscribed capital, the business scope and the restrictions on the status of members are stipulated in detail. It is also defined in the Regulations that the farmers may use intellectual property rights and other non-monetary property as the subscribed capital for joining the cooperative.

Another law is entitled the "Law on the Farmers' Specialized Cooperative" in which,  the market entity status of the farmers' specialized cooperative is defined and the organization and behavior of the farmers' specialized cooperative has been adequately regulated. This law will also help the farmers expand the scale of production, strengthen the market competitive capability of the farm products and promote the increase of farmers' income, thus pushing forward the building of a new socialist village.
