Recently, an award for reporting offenses on the pirated discs assembly line has been established in Guangdong Province.  This is the highest award throughout the country.  Whoever reports on a pirated discs assembly line to the public security organ will be awarded RMB 300,000, the highest.

It was revealed by the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department that there were constant changes in the schemes of producing and sale of counterfeit products in IPR infringement.  While an integrated method ranging from producing to sale was practiced in the past, production is now separated from sale as well as extension from the sale platform to the websites and collaboration in the sale channels both at home and abroad.  Therefore, the public security organ wants to enlarge the sources of information and to encourage the masses of people to reporting offenses.

It was learned since last year that a total of 479 IPR infringement offenses as well as production and sale of counterfeit and inferior commodities criminal cases were investigated into and dealt with by the public security organs in Guangdong Province. As a result, 338 cases were cracked down and 915 suspects were arrested, involving an amount of about RMB 414 million and with RMB 130 million recovered in terms of economic loss.
