More Patents from China Mainland Granted by U.S. in 2006

According to the latest statistics released by USPTO, in 2006 661 invention patents from China mainland had been approved in the U.S., 64.4% more than that in 2005, while the total invention patents approved by the organization in 2006 was only 2.0 percent higher than 2005.

 Also by the statistic, Japan, German, China Taiwan were the first three largest invention patent registers in the U.S. in 2006 with the numbers of 36, 807, 10,005 and 6,360 respectively, while China mainland was ranked as 15th largest, comparing with the 17th in 2005.

Mr. Li Shunde, the deputy director of IP Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said this represented China mainland's economy and technologic power had been upgraded, and Chinese enterprises' consciousness of independent innovation and IPR protection had been greatly improved, as more and more enterprises began to utilize IPR as a legal tool in international business. "We should continue our effort so as to keep our businesses in a virtuous development way, " Li add.
