Owners of ten Karaoke bars in Beijing signed a Karaoke Copyright License Agreement respectively with the Beijing Liaison Station of China Video-Audio Association on the 13th of this month.

The Beijing Liaison Station of China Video-Audio Association was established in the beginning of this year.  According to the introduction of the person concerned from the liaison station, the computation time for the collection of the said royalties begins from January 1, 2007 and the standard of royalties is RMB 12/room/day.

Meanwhile, the standard of royalties has been undergoing certain readjustment, with reference made to the statistic data such as the per-capita consumption index of Beijing Municipality, the per-capita disposable consumption index and the per-capita cultural recreation consumption index.  As for those owners of Karaoke bars who have signed the agreement and paid the royalties for the entire year before April 1, 2007, they will enjoy a preferential treatment of RMB 8/room/day.

Agreement on Karaoke Copyright Royalties were first signed in Kunming in February this year.  To date, the official collection of Karaoke copyright royalties have also been initiated in Shaanxi, Shandong and other provinces.
