580,000 Illegal Publications Seized in Beijing in the First Two Months of 2007

As of February 25, Beijing had seized 580,000 pirated publications of various kinds, including 110,000 books, 430,000 optical disks, 20,000 pornographic disks, 1,560 computer software disks and 300 schoolbooks.

"Governments and markets shall move against pirated products on the daily basis.  Two crucial points are worth noted.  First, make the culture market prosper and provide more abundant culture products to the public.  Second, those culture products must be healthy so as to keep feeding the mental need of the public," says Liu Binjie, vice minister of the News and Publication Administration, vice chair and chief of staff of the State Working Group for Sweeping Pornography and Combating Illegal Publications.
