On September 2, the International Meeting on Integrating TISCs into National and Institutional Strategic Frameworks was held jointly by CNIPA and WIPO in Hangzhou. CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Gan Shaoning and WIPO Assistant Director General Takagi Yoshiyuki attended the meeting and gave opening remarks.

At the meeting, Gan Shaoning and Takagi Yoshiyuki granted plaques to the second batch (totally 10) of TISC host institutions in China. Representatives from CNIPA and China’s TISC host institutions shared the construction situation of TISCs in China, and representatives from Russia, Egypt, Vietnam, Mongolia and other countries also shared their own experience in building TISCs. Making full use of this meeting as a platform, attendees exchanged their experience in building and developing TISCs, contributing ideas to high-level development of global TISC service network in the future.

It is reported that TISC is a cooperative project under the WIPO Development Agenda, aiming to provide IP users and innovators in developing countries with assistance in searching and retrieving technology information and mastering industrial trends and new technology information more quickly. By the end of 2018, WIPO had established TISCs in more than 700 host institutions in more than 70 countries and regions. TISC Program was formally launched in China early this year and CNIPA plans to build about 100 TISC host institutions in China by 2021, aiming to provide domestic innovators and IP users with better IP information services.

This meeting is the first trans-regional international meeting on TISC worldwide, attended by more than 150 people, including representatives from 12 countries including Algeria, Chile, Cuba, Egypt, Georgia, India, Mongolia, Morocco, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa and Vietnam and representatives from China’s TISC host institutions as well as local IP-related divisions.  (Translated from CNIPA Website Chinese Version)
