China IP Publicity Week Launches

The National Publicity Week 2018 with the theme of fostering innovation culture and respecting intellectual property was officially launched in Beijing on April 20.

Under the guideline of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, this year's event highlights elevating the public's thinking of decisions and strategies on IP made by the Party and the state while following the principle of this new development philosophy and high quality development. During the week, the event will showcase the latest developments of IP administration in this new era, the progress made after the 40 years' of reform and opening up and 10 years' of the implementation of the National IP Strategy Outline. A host of activities will unfold to display how the reforms in IP sector and bolstering IP creation, protection and use is supporting innovation-driven development and mass start-up and innovation. The innovation culture placing IP as its core will be advocated, and development of IP culture highlighting respecting knowledge, pursuing innovation and abiding the laws will be facilitated so as to create a sound environment for building China into an IP power house.

During the week, the organizers of the event will put a wide range of events into action. Among them, SIPO and National Copyright Administration will jointly brief to the press for China's IP development. The Supreme People's Court will deliver a report on IP Protection by Chinese Courts in 2017. The Supreme People's Procuratorate will issue ten major cases on IP protection. A nationwide publicity campaign on IP laws will be launched by the Ministry of Justice. The forums on the protection of new varieties of plant between China- Uzbekistan and China-Japan will be held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs respectively.
