The patent officials in Japan have confirmed that Apple has applied for a trademark for "iWatch", according to CNN report.
The patent would cover computers, computer accessories and wristwatches, according to the information released on the website of Japan Patent Office Tuesday.
As Apple's long-anticipated smartwatch, iWatch is imagined by many reports as a sleek, thin band wrapped around user’s wrist with a bendable computer screen that vibrates gently to alert the user to new messages or calls.
But there is still no clear idea of what it might look like or what it would do if it ever comes to market.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously announced an "amazing new hardware" would be coming to the market this fall and throughout 2014. But it is not sure whether he meant new product categories like an iWatch or simply refreshes of Apple's existing products.
