Indonesia to Host 2nd Meeting on Protection of Cultural Heritage

Indonesia will host the second meeting of Like Minded Countries on the Protection of Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (LMCM GRTKF) on June 27-30 in Bali following the same event two years ago, a press statement said here on Wednesday.

The meeting scheduled to be opened by Indonesia's Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa will be attended by GRTKF experts from 25 countries that have big interest in the field.

The event is part of Indonesia's role and effort as a stakeholder country on GRTKF in establishing international legally binding instruments that are still being discussed in the forum of the World Intellectual Property Organization Intergovernmental Committee on GRTKF, which has been making no progress in the last eight years.

The realization of international legally binding instruments is expected to provide protection on GRTKF in Indonesia.
