Microsoft Signs Patent Deal with Amazon

Microsoft Corp. said Monday that it has made a patent cross-licensing deal with the online retailer Amazon.com.

The agreement will give Microsoft and Amazon access to each other's patent portfolio and includes a broad range of products and technology, including Amazon's Kindle electronic book reader.

Microsoft, the world's largest software maker, has not given specific terms but did indicate Amazon will pay an undisclosed amount of money as part of the agreement.
