CNIPA-JPO Heads Meeting Held Online

On October 13, CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu and JPO newly appointed Commissioner Mori Kiyoshi held their first meeting online.

Dr. Shen extended his warm congratulations to Mr. Mori Kiyoshi's appointment and introduced China's 15-year plan (2021-2035) on the development of intellectual property rights (IPR) power. He remarked that JPO is an important partner of CNIPA. Over the years, bilateral cooperation in IP work has produced fruitful outcomes, and the two offices have also conducted in-depth cooperation under the frameworks of IP5 and TRIPO, Shen said. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, they have actively coordinated with each other and made steady progress on various bilateral projects. He hoped that the two offices could continue to deepen bilateral IP work.

Mr. Mori Kiyoshi introduced the latest development of Japan's IP-related policies, as well as the measures taken to innovate the working mode for patent examination and improve service facilitation through IT. He said that the two offices have maintained fruitful cooperation over the years and hoped that they could continue to deepen cooperation in patent, trademark and other fields at different levels.

At the meeting, the two offices had in-depth exchanges on the latest IP-related policies and law revision of the two countries and shared views on international affairs of common concern.
