Updated: 6 24,2022

The ninth official meeting between the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (Official name in German: Institut für Geistiges Eigentum,IGE) was held online recently. Principals in charge of international cooperation from the respective offices moderated the meeting as delegation heads.

The two offices updated each other on the latest developments and exchanged comments on extension of patent term, regulating trademark registration, measures and incentives inspiring innovation development against the backdrop of the pandemic, geographical indications and some international IP issues of common concern. Both sides vowed to bolster practical cooperation for the benefit of users in both countries.

An industry roundtable was also added to the agenda. Over 50 representatives from the two offices, companies and IP service firms offered their wisdom on IP protection at e-commerce platforms, corporate innovation strategy, patent administrative enforcement, supplementary protection certificate (SPC), protection of well-known marks and other issues.

Since 2012, CNIPA and IGE have rotated each year on hosting an official meeting and an industry roundtable, mandated by the framework of an established cooperation memorandum. All these activities stimulate the constant progression of the innovative strategic partnership between the two countries while serving their innovators.(Translated from CNIPA Website Chinese Version)
